Derek brings a mix of financial and operational executive success. He has more than 40 years of achievement in helping companies exceed revenue, profit, and growth objectives in startup, turnaround, acquisition, and rapid change environments, across multiple industries. This is accomplished by advancing best practices in: corporate finance, strategic planning, enterprise evaluation, corporate accounting, and process standards. His orientation is to enhance value through optimizing strategies that balance market scope and scale; development and management of the capital stack layers; improving operational morale. He has enjoyed working with and for small regional companies as well as global 100 multinationals.

Prior to working his way up into the executive ranks, Derek was a CPA, Audit Manager, Transaction Advisor, and Tax Senior, for the Big 4 firm of KPMG – San Diego. He feels fortunate (and proud) to also have driven race cars professionally for Toyota Racing Development/Toyo Tires and privateers in SCCA and IMSA series and participating in the America’s Cup challenge and subsequent defense. 

He graduated Summa Cum Laude, with a BS in Accounting, from San Diego State University, with a focus in Economics, and where he was a TA in Operations Research.
